The Californian cult brand REBEL8 is deeply rooted in graffiti, skateboard and tattoo culture. REBEL8 founder Joshy D. met Mike Giant in the late 1990’s in San Francisco’s then bustling graffiti scene. Joshy ran the popular graffiti website, HiFiArt, and Giant was one of the city’s most notorious writers. Years later, after an organic friendship developed between the two, Joshy approached Giant about creating a handful of t-shirt graphics. In 2003, with just $500, Joshy printed a small run of tees and sold them out of a messenger bag around the city. REBEL8 was born. REBEL8 is one of the last authentic brands left that incorporate original artistic works within their pieces. Many graphics within the REBEL8 product line are hand illustrated, with no computer generated enhancements or manipulations. The man behind this original artwork at REBEL8 is the legendary tattoo and graffiti artist Mike Giant.
